Q. Can I become a model?
A. Yes. Anyone can become a model. You don't have to be tall, beautiful, slim, photogenic, know how to act, etc. You may require some or all of the above to be on the cover of a magazine, but you may also have certain skills, talents or features that can make you famous! Your legs, hands, eyes are a few examples. Are all movie stars gorgeous or tall? Heather Locklear and Tom Cruise are under 5'6"! Different modeling requires different looks. Being short does not mean you cannot model. It means you cannot do runway modeling. It does not limit you to other types of modeling. Simply ask yourself these questions; Will I enjoy this industry? Am I willing to commit? Will I settle for doing this part time/full time? Am I willing to learn? If you answered yes to any one of these questions, you are well on your way!

Q. What if I don't have a modeling agency near me?
A.Your best bet would be to find one that is national and/or promote yourself either by sending comp cards to various agencies, or simply promote yourself online. The idea is to try and get discovered. An agency may *find you* as you may have a certain look they are looking for. They may represent you although they are not in the same city as you.

Q. If you model for something could you get moved up to a higher level?
A. It doesn't work with levels of advancement like a normal job. Your advancement can depend on what area of modeling you are targeting, the industry demand, the availability of other models etc. Advancement usually comes with persistence, commitment and marketing -i.e. get your look out there in any and every way possible. The more you're out there, the more chances of getting assignments which will gain you experience and thus help you advance.

Q. If you are still in school could you still model?
A. As modeling careers begin at a younger age, most aspiring models are still in school. Evening and weekend modeling courses are usually available to learn. As for assignments, you may be required to take a day or week off school if you land a big assignment out of your city.

Q. Do models have to be skinny?
A. Certainly not. Although most models are, fashion trends decide on preferred proportions, but there are many other areas of modeling that skinny models could not get into.

Q. I don't have a lot of money but I want to get started in modeling?
A. Generally, the only major costs associated in this industry are photographs and training i.e.: how to pose; catwalk; makeup, etc. These costs can range from photographer to agency/modeling school. Again, research and interview many in your area. These high costs are mainly the reason Model Promote was created. Although we can not teach you makeup, posing etc. on-line, we at least cut the cost down of spending thousands of dollars in photographs to send out to various talent agencies and scouts. All we require are a few professional photographs that will allow us to promote you on-line, via Model Promote.

Q. Are you an agency?
A. No. We are simply a directory listing models from all over the world.

Q. If I enroll with Model Promote, do I still need an agency?
A. We recommend you join a local agency. Agencies can teach you the ropes of the modeling industry. You will learn about composure, catwalks, posing, make-up and much more. Local agencies also have better local connections for assignments

Q. If there are Agencies, why do I need Model Promote?
A. Although some of the most popular agencies like Ford and Elite are international, most agencies are not. Model Promote gives you the added advantage of putting your comp/zed and bio on the largest information median in the world -the Internet. Even if you don't have a comp or bio card, you will with us; a virtual one! So even if you are with a large agency, a small agency, or no agency at all, Model Promote can put you on-line to have your portfolio available to over 60 million people world-wide!

Q. How can I find an agency near me?
A. Your local Telephone directory will have listings. You can call up fashion photographers in your area to see who they may recommend. Before you commit to any one agency, *interview* many of them and see what each one has to offer.

Q. Can Model Promote locate an agency for me?
A. This would be almost impossible for anyone to do, as new agencies are being opened and many are being closed. We do not specialize in a database of agencies, as they are simply found in your area's local Yellow Pages.

Q. Is your price reasonable for an on-line portfolio?
A. Very! Most online directories will charge a substantial fee to develop, maintain, customize, host, and allow e-mail and hyperlinks for a web page. The few that don't usually have back-end or hidden costs such as having you pay a hosting fee, or that they must create a separate web site for you for $$$ etc. There are a few companies that may charge you very little or nothing at all (be careful and read the fine print!!), but they will plaster your site with usually offensive banners or links to other sites which will make your site less attractive and scare the visitor away.

Q. I have heard some similar companies that absolutely do not charge!
A. C'mon, nothing in this world is free! There are a few, but if you look carefully, the only means for someone to contact you is usually through that company. Thus if you do have someone interested for hiring you for an assignment, you will probably have to sign a contract, pay a fee, or give them a high commission. Besides, do you really want someone else reading your email when it's supposed to be coming to you?

Q. Well then if all this is true, how do you make your money?
A. We are not looking at making a quick buck. We realize that since we are new, we will have to give it time to enroll many models to pay for the cost of production, design and hosting of Model Promote. Thus our focus is long-term in building a large international directory to carry  Model Promote. Besides, we've got a great design company Digitized Solutions that has been generous in the production, as they believe in the concept and us. Hey it's only money.. we're having fun, and that's what counts!!!!

Q. How does your Job Forum work?
A. It's real simple. Any and all talent scouts, directors, photographers, agencies or companies interested in hiring models for assignments can post a free listing here. This is great for all models to look for assignments, and it invites the industry pros to browse through our site and maybe select one of the our models!

Q. Who can post on your Job Forum?
A. Only industry professionals and companies seeking to source out models for assignments -NOT models wishing to promote themselves!

Q. Can I model if I have braces?
A. Many agencies can still accept you, especially the diverse ones and ones who can promote your other features. You can model with your mouth closed, do side profile shots and maybe hand/leg modeling. Either way, don't wait for those braces to come off.. find a photographer who can hide them and bring out your other qualities. When your braces do come out, you'll aleady have a head start!
